Body Image Wisdom from Glee

I mostly watch Glee because it's hilarious and fun, and I love the music and dance numbers. But this week I found myself getting pretty emotional at some of the situations.

During one scene, Quinn, who is pregnant and was kicked off the cheerleading squad because of it, was talking with Mercedes about being healthy. She made the comment that she didn't know why she was so willing to eat healthy for her baby, but unwilling to do the same thing to take care of herself.

Whoa.

Good thing to consider, huh?

Then later, Mercedes did an awesome rendition of Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful." It won't let me embed it for copyright reasons, but you can see it here. She talked about how often we all feel fat, feel unattractive, feel not good enough, and asked the crowd to join her if they'd ever felt the same.

I know I was singing along. And even R commented that he'd never really listened to the words before, but wow, that was a really good song!

Though, for a more lighthearted moment, I think my very favorite quote from the episode may have been when Brittany said, "I'm pretty sure my cat has been reading my diary."

I adore every episode but this season is off to an awesome start. The cat reading the diary and the cheerios adding sand to the diet drink were my faves!

This is one of those shows that I need to watch - at this point I'm so behind that I'll have to wait for the season to end and catch the DVD's.

Anytime we can get some words to help with that whole body image - it's a good thing.

We recorded Glee and started watching it at 10:30... I fell asleep. Am going to have to go back and watch it again before we delete it.

So why is it we will take care of others (our babies) but not ourselves... something to think about.

I have to say that I've missed out on Glee, but I must say everyone is talking about it!

Thanks for this great post.

Pretty much every word out of Brittany's mouth is comic gold.

I did enjoy last week's episode of Glee. I think it's actually been the first good episode of this half of the season. And I loved that it was all about appearance and image and feeling good about how we are.

Pretty cool site you've got here. Thanx for it. I like such themes and everything connected to them. I definitely want to read more on that blog soon.
